RE: Route 441 from south Georgia to North Georgia..

General Coffee State Park in Douglas Georgia would be a good place to stay for the night. It is about 17 miles off Hwy 441, but Stephen Foster State Park near Fargo Georgia would also work. You should not have any problems with on the way. Every interstate that you cross over will have diesel, along with Douglas, and Athens. Have a great trip.

RE: RVparkreviews.com VERY HELPFUL

DW and I use it as a tool to help us decide. We have only once decided not to stay at a place based on the reviews. We did pass by the CG on and the reviews were right on. We were glad we did not stay even though it was closer to where we wanted to go than where we ended up staying.

RE: Savannah Campsites

DW and I are going to Savannah for a visit after Christmas. We will be staying at Skidaway Island State Park. We may like Fort McAllister S.P. a little better, but for seeing Savannah it is a little to far away for us and there is nothing wrong with Skidaway Island S.P.

RE: Why have rules?

I know for a fact that some Georgia State Parks will allow you to save a site for friends if they have reservations, because the site is already paid for. I for you do not like that policy, but I know the parks do allow it. I would have reported the person cutting the limbs off the tree. DW and I camped at another state park this last October. We told the Ranger about one camper that was banging on some bongo drums and on camper that had placed his sewer line into the water shut off that is below ground(the camper claimed that he thought it was the sewer hook-up). I used to fill bad about reporting things, but I finally convinced myself that should not feel bad when it is the other person doing wrong.

RE: What do you DO?

We hike, ride our bikes, be tourist, meet people, read, and any other activities that we think we will enjoy, some work out and some don't. We are thinking about buying a kayak. We go to a lot of state parks with lakes, and think it would be fun.

RE: Can anyone beat my record?

Radio, since you are from the Middle Of Georgia, you might want to check out the next Georgia RVers Rally , 20-22 February. It will be at Twin Oaks RV Park just south of Perry. If you call to make reservations, just say you are part of the rally and the price is only $20.00 per night. You can find a link about the rally under the Rallies, Shows, and Gatherings forum.

RE: Who was the last RVer to post on this thread? Round 2

What a bummer, back to work after the Thanksgiving Holiday. At least I am last.

RE: North Dakota - what to see/do??

If you are into hiking, one of the best easy hikes that we ever took, was to the petrified forest in Theodore Roosevelt N.P. You have to travel a way to get to the trail head, but the scenery was awesome. I would also suggest you order a travel guide from North Dakota Tourism. We always order travel guides of the places we are going. Have a great trip.

RE: miss the CG

DW and I are planning our next trip two weekends away. Next weekend is tied up taking the grand kids to the CHRISTMAS Parade. We are then planning a trip before New Years to Savannah. One trip for January and two trips in February. Life is good in the DEEP south. Of course we will hibernate next summer, unless we can find a way to get up north. Hope all had a Happy Thanksgiving.

RE: GPS with or without SD card

I may be wrong, but I believe that you are asking about the difference between the Garmin Etrex Legend and the Etrex legend HCx. I have not heard of the Etrex Legend HC with internal memory. That being said, if you are looking at the two I know about then the $50 is well worth it. I have the basic Legend. If for nothing else having a high sensitive receiver that maintains satellite tracking is worth it. DW and I went geocaching in Macon (not the tallest building in the world and we lost track several times. We ended up finding what we were looking for but it took a while. Also the basic legend tends to lose tract in heavy woods. THe other Legend is suppose to keep track a lot better. I have never loaded maps into my GPS, but a friend of mine has loaded maps into a similar unit. It takes a while to load a map through the USB port. I am sure it is much faster using an SD card even though I have not experience. Hope she has fun geoacaching. I have to grandchildren that I love to take, one is 4 today and the other one was 2 last month. They both love it and I love taking them to find "treasure".

RE: Oh-oh, my MH dream may be evaporating....

From what I read of your post your motor home dream is not evaporating, but your wife does not does not share your vision of your dream motor home. DW and I share the same dream of traveling to see the country. A motor home would be very nice, but we are not willing to take our retirement funds to buy one. I think you should compromise with DW and get a MH without all the bells and whistles. I would hope that bells and whistles are not what you dream of. DW and I are very happy with what we have and if one day we can move up we will, but until then, we will be content with what we have.

RE: Jupiter and Venus

shies---- well if they would fix the spell checker on this forum, that word would not be there. for you weird guys it should be skies Spell checker would not have helped with shies, because it is a valid word. It is raining here today so I think I will wait until next time to check the view out. I will only be in my late 90s. I may even wait until the one after that.

RE: Depressed--Wrapping it up for the winter

You live just a little to far North. We are just beginning our good camping season. We have two trips planned for December, 1 each for January and February. It is the summers that we have problems with unless we head north.

We did not forget anything, especially the sweet potatoes. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Hope everyone else did as well.

RE: I-20 West of Atlanta, to I-75 South

I will second Eycom's choice. We live just a little south of Macon and when we want to head out east on I-25 that is the way we usually take. We never go through Atlanta for 20 east

RE: Winter Rally, GA'RVers, Twin Oaks RV Park, Feb 20 & 21, 2009

Junnie and I just signed up. Fortunately we have several trips planned because February is a long way off. I am working on trying to get some friends from work and from church to attend as well.

RE: What tip do you have to save us money to keep camping?

kirkj55 must know my friend. He knows how to give gifts. One Christmas his wife was just about out of perfume. He went to Big Lots and bought a big bottle of perfume and poured it into the bottle that was just about out. I would like to say she never knew the difference, but she caught him refilling the old bottle. At least Kirk did not say he was buying her a new broom for transportation. To answer the question, we charge almost everything we buy. We average around 3% cash back so we make $500-$600 per year. Of course you have to pay off the balance every month.
